Russia’s Tatsotsbank develops processing centre

Russias Tatsotsbank has undertaken a rapid integration of payment software provider Compass Plus TranzWare product suite to run its new processing centre. Following a take-over in July 2010 by an unnamed investor group, Tatsotsbanks new owners made it a priority to implement payroll programmes and provide a complete range of banking services to employees from the group of corporate customers that had moved their business to the bank.

Online credit card spending remains popular

Credit cards are still proving popular among Latin American online shoppers with the payment method accounting for 70% of all transactions on the internet during 2010.Market research firm yStatss Global Online Payments Methods 2011 study also shows e-commerce transactions using credit card accounted for 40% of online transactions in North America during 2010 but this figure is set to decrease slightly by 2015.

Contactless-enabled mobile phone hits the UK

The UKs mobile contactless revolution has begun as the first Orange and Barclaycard Quick Tap enabled mobile handset is announced available to consumers. IE partners O2 on m-wallet initiative

Online banking software provider Intelligent Environments has signed a three year contract with O2 to build, host and manage the application for the networks m-wallet service.O2 is expected to launch its m-wallet service in the second half of 2011, which will offer consumers a range of financial services, including mobile shopping, mobile top-ups and P2P transfers.

Lloyds joins Visa in Olympics m-payments project

Lloyds TSB has been announced as Visas m-payments issuing partner for the Samsung Olympic and Paralympic Games mobile handset initiative. Under the agreement, the contactless-enabled handsets, which will be given to all Visa-sponsored athletes, will be linked to Lloyds TSB accounts.

Western Union launches prepaid card with Telemundo

Media company Telemundo has teamed up with Western Union to offer Hispanic consumers in the US two co-branded general purpose reloadable MasterCard prepaid cards.Consumers will be able to reload money onto their Western Union Telemundo and Western Union mun2 co-branded MasterCard prepaid cards in-person at more than 46,000 participating Western Union agent locations in the US. They can do so through direct deposit of employer or government benefits, or through their bank account online.

AirPlus and ING team up on corporate travel platform

Corporate travel payment solutions provider AirPlus International has partnered with Dutch bank ING to provide companies in the Netherlands with a complete corporate payment platform, including integrated travel management solutions. Under the agreement the ING Corporate Card will be fully certified by AirPlus with regards to product, data and process integration and is designed to complement the global corporate card offering.

Barclaycard is set to trial contactless technology on a UK toll road during the autumn months of 2011. By waving their credit or debit card across a contactless reader at M6 toll booths, drivers will capitalise on the speedy benefits contactless can bring.
