Italy goes ahead with petrol merchant fee cap
Italys government has gone ahead with a zero service charge cap for acquirers of petrol merchants weeks after saying the merchant acquiring industry in Italy would have to define its own level of fees. The government had announced it would impose a cap on merchant service charges on petrol purchases below 100. But after fierce criticism, the Monti government had backed down and demanded that by 1 June 2012, the Italian Banking Association, payment schemes, Poste Italian, the ATM Consortium and the companies that handle payment circuits, define lower merchant service charges themselves.
Barclaycard snaps up contactless POS deal with major UK venue group
