Canada-based credit union Meridian has launched a new payment solution Mobile Pay to enable its members make purchases using their Android smartphone at any Interac Flash logo displaying retail store across the country.
Mobile Pay will be available to Meridian members, who have an Android smartphone, Meridian’s mobile banking app and Interac Flash.
Similar to using a contactless debit card in a point-of-sale (POS) transaction, Mobile Pay is supported on handsets enabled with Android V4.4 OS or later.
Meridian SVP and chief information and technology Gary Genik said: "This new mobile pay platform provides our Members with another easy, convenient and secure way to access their money.
"Meridian is excited to be among the first financial institutions in Canada to offer its members this innovative mobile service – signaling another credit union first."
The credit union has already provided its members access to Interac Flash capability on debit cards.
