Nuvei has announced that its eCommerce merchants have begun processing transactions through the European Payments Initiative (EPI) digital wallet, Wero.

The move introduces Wero digital wallet payments in Europe to Nuvei’s merchant network, enabling instant account-to-account payments throughout the region.

Wero uses Single Euro Payment Area (SEPA) Instant Credit Transfer protocols, enabling consumers to make payments directly from their bank accounts in seconds.

Nuvei said that earlier in 2025, it was among the inaugural payment processors to complete a transaction using Wero in a testing environment, and is currently one of the first to process live merchant transactions.

For merchants, the addition of Wero at checkout widens consumer payment options, minimises processing expenses, and speeds up settlement.

This can support higher conversion rates and improved cash flow.

Nuvei added that online campervan rental platform CamperDays is one of the first businesses to accept Wero payments at checkout through Nuvei.

Nuvei CEO and chair Phil Fayer said: “Going live with Wero is another example of how Nuvei enables merchants to offer the most advanced and locally relevant payment methods through a single integration.

“Today’s consumers expect flexibility, speed, and security at checkout, and Wero delivers on all three. We’re proud to help European merchants like CamperDays capture more sales and build trust with their customers.”

This rollout is said to broaden Nuvei’s alternative payment method (APM) portfolio, allowing merchants to provide localised experiences for consumers via one integration.

CamperDays managing director Max Schmidt said: “Adding Wero as a payment option through Nuvei gives our customers a fast, trusted way to pay directly from their bank accounts.

“Offering more choice at checkout helps us meet diverse preferences and deliver the best possible booking experience.”

EPI is backed by sixteen banks and payment service providers across Europe.

EPI CEO ‍Martina Weimert said: “Wero simplifies the payment experience for consumers while providing merchants with a cost-efficient alternative to traditional cards.

“Nuvei will bring an important contribution in driving the adoption of a truly European payment solution that strengthens the continent’s financial sovereignty. We are looking forward this cooperation.”
