Fiserv has announced that it will commence
producing EMV cards.

The global technology solutions provider will
produce cards compliant with the EMV standard to hep aid the
reduction of fraudulent transactions from counterfeit, lost and
stolen cards.

The announcement comes at a time when the
migration from stripe-based cards to chip-and-PIN cards in the US
seems unavoidable and a necessity to reduce the risk of fraud.

Jorge Diaz, president of output solutions at
Fiserv said:

 “As the US payments industry looks for
ways to minimise card-related fraud loss and comply with new data
security standards, EMV provides a next-generation alternative to
magnetic stripe bank cards.”

Fiserv also plans to implement solutions to
process EMV transactions in 2012.
