One the the BKM’s latest projects is the
development of a SIM-card based NFC solution in co-operation with
mobile network operators.
The BKM’s CEO, Soner Canko, told Cards
International in
his outlook for 2012 that the centre would launch a national
digital wallet platform for all card holders to make m-payments and
e-commerce purchases “easier, faster and more secure”.
The BKM’s biggest project, undoubtebly, is its
war on cash.
As the latest Cards International country
survey found, the war on cash in Turkey is in full flow, albeit
with a different vocabulary and a quirky twist: The Turkish word
for ‘cash’ is spelled the same as the old Ottoman word for
‘partridge’ – and the bird now features in TV marketing to
encourage consumers to use less cash.

By GlobalDataCanko told Cards International that from the
beginning of this year, the BKM would run “the longest
communication of all times nationally until the year
2023”.
He added that 2012 was “a very important year
for us, as it is the 100th anniversary of the Republic of
Turkey.”
The cards centre is aiming to educate
consumers and regulators to spur the use of cards.
