GlobalPlatform, the association which regulates the management of applications on secure chip technology, has released its new framework, focused on contactless payments.
The initial release of GlobalPlatform’s ‘End-to-End Simplified Service Management Framework v1.0’, will bring clarity to the use of secure mobile services, and will cater to service providers, mobile network operators, and secure element vendors among others.
This end-to-end framework comprises 28 members, and streamlines the service management process, while highlighting GlobalPlatform Specifications, useful for the implementation of a comprehensive end-to-end configuration relevant to each market sector.
The document focuses on contactless payment in order to address the industry demand for an accessible deployment framework that reduces complexity and encourages standardisation of this payment method.
GlobalPlatform technical director, Gil Bernabeu, said that as new players enter the secure services ecosystem and new partnerships are formed to deliver innovative products, it is vital there is clarity across the payments infrastructure.
"The end-to-end payment framework acts as an entry point to GlobalPlatform for new players. Each actor selects their end-to-end configuration by answering a simple set of questions.
