Israeli retail payments malfunction debilitates credit cards
The Israel Electric Corporation has informed customers that it is unable to accept credit card payments, and problems have been reported at gas stations, Paz and Delek.
The problem stems from connectivity problems between Automatic Banking Services (ABS) and Retalix terminals, which are used by major retail chains in the country.
As far as can be ascertained, there is no problem with the credit card companies – Isracart, Visa Cal and Leumi Card.
A spokesperson from Retalix parent company NCR said: "a malfunction was diagnosed in the morning hours in the communication between Retalix pay systems and ABS.
"It was determined that the problem was caused by the daily update file, which was transferred this morning from ABS. We are working together with ABS to re-update the file, in order to reestablish proper communication."
