Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited (IBBL) has introduced its new Visa debit card designed to enable its cardholders to withdraw cash from Visa supported ATMs.

The new Islami Bank Visa debit card also enables the cardholder to purchase from all Visa point-of-sale (POS) along with e-commerce services and e-ticketing.

Bangladesh Bank executive director, Dasgupta Asim Kumar, said that the new offering represented a part of Bangladeshi commercial banks’ strategy of launching electronic based modern banking products for their customers.

Islami Bank managing director and CEO, Mohammad Abdul Mannan, added: “IBBL VISA Debit card will be as popular in Bangladesh and one of the safest available for online and standard use with an EMV chip for added security against counterfeiting.”

IBBL began providing outsourced ATM based services to its customers in 2001 and successfully created its own ATM system in 2009, reported theindependentbd.com.

According to IBBL deputy managing director, Nurul Islam Khalifa, the bank has 309 own and more than 200 shared ATMs situated all across the country.
