cloudBuy has announced a partnership with UK payment processing company WorldPay in order to enable local authorities across the country to take card payments online.

The deal will allow about 117 local authorities to start taking credit, debit and commercial card payments through their local marketplace website, giving their customers a new payment option.

Ronald Duncan, cloudBuy chairman, said: "With the WorldPay partnership, we can now provide to new and existing customers a faster, more competitive merchant account referral service, which will allow them to start taking Visa and MasterCard payments through our e-commerce websites in a matter of days."

cloudBuy being the only e-commerce provider to the care community, this partnership will ease the access to a wider range of health and social care products and services.

Also, local authorities will receive payments faster than before with no administration time spent collecting and chasing payments, according to cloudBuy.

Dave Hobday, managing director of WorldPay UK, added: "Local authorities provide a vital service to the community, so they deserve to get all the benefits of trading online – quicker payments, greater security and swift settlement."
