MTN South Africa has introduced a new Mobile Money Visa card that allows users to perform various transactions such as micro-payments, EFT payments, fund transfers, pay school fees, purchase airtime and prepaid electricity, and internet bundles.

Launched in South Africa in November 2012, the Mobile Money service has roped in over two million customers till now and processed transactions worth over ZAR2.5bn ($236m).

MTN South Africa CEO Zunaid Bulbulia said this next phase of Mobile Money is especially exciting as they are empowering customers to use their Mobile Money Visa card at ATMs and other till points across the country, with free unlimited card swipes and full banking functionality.

"The Mobile Money Visa card has no monthly or annual card fees," Bulbulia added.

The Mobile Money Visa card is currently available for purchase from Pick n Pay and Boxer stores.
