US Bank has secured a contract worth $2.25m from Dayton to process all credit card transactions for the city through 2017.

The bank, which vied against six other competitors, said that the agreement also includes an automatic renewal for two years thereafter.

The contract is significant for US Bank, which has 650 employees in the Dayton area, spread across 65 offices and with $1.87bn in deposits, as reported by bizjournals.com.

Dayton processed approximately 480,000 credit card transactions with net sales of $27.3m in 2013.

As per the terms of the deal, US Bank will charge the city the actual cost from credit card companies plus a 0.08% fee.
