American Express has appointed Manoj Adlakha as the new CEO of American Express Banking Corp (AEBC), India.

In his new role, Adlakha will be responsible for running company’s consumer card and prepaid businesses as well as for providing leadership to the AEBC country executive team.

He will continue to report to Sanjay Rishi, president of American Express South Asia. Prior to this, Adlakha had led the American Express corporate business.

Rishi said: "Manoj is an apt choice for this role given his diverse experience in the financial services space combined with knowledge of market dynamics.

"As CEO for the India business, he will be responsible for driving the growth, transformation, and profitability in this market. For American Express, India is a strategic growth market and we are confident of further buoyant growth under Manoj’s able leadership."

Adlakha has more than 24 years of experience, of which 20 years have been with American Express across key roles, including CFO, officiating country manager, consumer card head and vice president – retail financial services and consumer cards.
