The Singapore arm of the Australia and New Zealand Banking Group or ANZ has launched a new rebate card, the ANZ Optimum World MasterCard, to empower customers to choose their rebate rewards according to their specific needs.

The launch follows an ANZ survey conducted on 600 credit cardholders which showed that 66% of participants preferred the concept that allows them to choose the spend category in which they receive the highest rebate.

The Optimum World MasterCard by ANZ will offer a 5% rebate on the spend category of choice, ranging from groceries, travel and shopping, to dining and leisure, and a 1% rebate on all other spend.

ANZ Singapore head of retail banking Philip Lim said: "I think the credit card (market) is a very important business to grow our customer base, because customers transact using the card, and we get a lot better understanding when we understand how our customers transact with us. We want to appeal to our customers’ lifestyle."
