Video game retailer GameStop has expanded its partnership with Cardpool under which customers can sell gift cards from other retailers across all GameStop’s 4,000 retail stores in the US for immediate in-store purchases.

Under the partnership, customers can also quickly sell their gift cards in GameStop retail stores and have the value loaded to a GameStop gift card that can be used to make GameStop purchases.

The move is part of the company’s expanded offering launched online in 2014 via a partnership with Cardpool, a premier gift card exchange platform.

GameStop senior director, pre-owned merchandising Jon Haes said: "This is the logical ‘next step’ in revolutionizing the way major retailers offer prepaid gifting exchange while providing customers even more ways to access immediate value both in their retail stores and online."

Blackhawk Network general manager of digital & emerging services Tomas Campos said:"Gift card exchange is another valuable service to offer to their customers that further differentiates GameStop in the market."
