Barclaycard US, the payments unit of Barclays in the US, has named Curt Hess as new interim CEO.

In his new role, Hess will report to Barclaycard Interim CEO Amer Sajed. He will be responsible for providing leadership and direction to the US team and representing the business on the Barclaycard executive committee.

Hess, who joined Barclays eight years ago, most recently served as CFO for personal and corporate banking in London. He also worked as CEO and CFO for Barclays Europe retail and business banking, CFO for Barclays Africa retail and business banking and CFO for Barclaycard.

Before joining Barclays, Hess served executive roles in the US at Citi and Bank of America.

Sajed said: "Under his interim leadership, Barclaycard US will further strengthen its ability to support Barclaycard’s global strategy and deliver continued success in serving our customers’ and partners’ needs."
