Swedish bank Handelsbanken has partnered with Point, a VeriFone company, to offer mobile payment services for micro merchants and other small businesses in Sweden.

According to VeriFone, Point will offer its EMV-compatible PAYware Mobile devices and managed services to Handelsbanken to launch branded mobile payment service.

The PAYware Mobile e105 is a universal secure payment adapter that includes chip and PIN and mag-stripe capabilities to extend the point of sale (POS) to all new environments.

With this payment adapter, smartphones and tablets will be transformed into completely secure payment devices that use Point’s tools for managing and growing business.

VeriFone said that its PAYware Mobile solutions will work with Apple iPad, iPod touch, iPhone and other smartphones and tablets.

Point Sweden managing director, Bård Ljöstad, said: "Leading banks such as Handelsbanken are developing new payment services to serve the needs of new micro merchants and other small businesses that want to utilise smartphones and tablet devices for payment acceptance.
