Discover Financial Services has launched its latest offering for merchants to help them modernize the checkout process for all chip cards using Discover, Diners Club International and PULSE Networks.
Known as Discover Quick Chip, the new chip will slash the time a chip card needs to remain in the point-of-sale terminal, making the checkout process more convenient for merchants and cardholders.
Discover said that the new Quick Chip offers merchants and acquirers with an added option when processing chip card payments.
Additionally, Discover Quick Chip will decrease terminal certification requirements and will be compatible with the technical standards offered by other payment networks. Thus, it will help merchants to seamlessly provide cardholders a faster checkout experience across all chip cards they accept.
Discover head of the chip center of excellence Ellie Smith said: "Discover is providing this new option in order to offer merchants and cardholders a streamlined checkout experience.
"This initiative further expands and complements Discover’s wide range of existing programs that support chip deployment."
