Wirecard has added Apple Pay support for its customers in Switzerland to facilitate easy and secure mobile payments.
The Germany-based financial services and technology firm has integrated Apple Pay as a new payment method in Switzerland in its Mobile SDK solution.
The service will allow the company’s Swiss customers to make purchases everywhere in online shops or at the point of sale (POS) using their bank cards wherever contactless payments are accepted. It will enable users to upload credit and debit card information to their iPhones and Apple watches and make in-store purchases using their devices.
To ensure maximum security, Apple Pay does not store card numbers on the device, nor on Apple servers. Instead, a unique device account number is generated, encrypted and securely stored in the secure element on a user’s device. All transactions are authorised with a one-time unique dynamic security code.
Wirecard executive vice president of payment and risk Carlos Häuser said: "We are delighted to support Apple Pay with its launch in Switzerland.
"As one of the world’s most successful payment service providers we are able to quickly adapt and support technology like Apple Pay through our payment processing platform. We feel confident that this new way to pay will be well adopted by customers all over the country."
