Union Bank of India (UBI) has launched its merchant payment services for mobile phones, allowing customers to make payments any time anywhere.

UBI will offer this service by using the immediate payment service (IMPS) provided by the National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI).

The initiative will allow customers to perform merchant payment services such as mobile recharge, utility payments, ticketing facilities, and many other services using their phones.

UBI executive director Sanjay Arya, who inaugurated the service at the bank’s headoffice, said UBI has all the alternate banking delivery channels including ATMs, debit cards, internet and mobile banking, and plans to route over 50% of its total transactions through these modes.
