Spain-based lender Bankia has rolled out a sticker and app-based mobile contactless payments service, as part of a plan to offer its customers easy and secure payment channel.

The new mobile payments service uses NFC stickers attached to the back of a customer’s smartphone, which can be used to make purchases at any contactless POS terminal.

Consumers need to download the Bankia Mobile Wallet app to use the service. Bankia’s customers, who order the sticker and download the iOS or Android app, can make low-value, in-store contactless payments with a tap of their handsets.

In order to execute the payment, the user will have to bring their mobile phone close to the terminal with the card facing it.

In addition, the app can also be used for online purchases, to check balances, manage cards, transfer funds, and top up mobile phones.
