UK-based car leasing firm IntelligentCar Leasing has started accepting crypto-currency Bitcoin in a world-first, as part of its plan to keep emerging technologies at the forefront of its business model.
Bitcoin is already being accepted by traders for a number of products and services ranging from holidays in the sun to a pint at the pub, across the globe.

Intelligent Car Leasing sales manager Craig Day said, "We are always on the lookout to give customers the best online shopping experience possible."
"Whether this is by giving them more flexible methods of payment or an easy to use website we try to stay ahead of the curve. Being the world’s first leasing company to accept Bitcoin we’re certainly doing that with this move."
In order to facilitate customer payments, the British car leasing company has partnered with highly secure Coinbase.com.
As Bitcoin is a decentralized peer-to-peer currency, payments can be transferred easily between wallets (accounts).

By GlobalDataThe company also said that it will always charge the market rate on exchanges automatically calculated by CoinBase, that is it won’t charge any premium for choosing Bitcoin as a payment method.
