PayPal has launched an official app for the popular iOS-connected Pebble smartwatch that will let users check in and pay at retailers on the go.
The app will not require a smartphone connected to it, rather it will generate a payment code that can be used to check out and charge an order to a user’s account.
Available on the Pebble app store, the app will allow Pebble wearers to find stores and restaurants, check in, order what they want and then pay before they even arrive.
With the new launch, the PayPal app will encompass all available wearable platforms, including Android Wear and Samsung Gear range.
Joel Yarbrough, senior director, Global Solutions and Verticals, at PayPal, said, "We’re making it really easy for you to pay at local stores right from your smart watches. Instead of pulling out a wallet, you pay right from your wrist."
