paysafecard, an Austria -based provider prepaid payments solutions and member of Skrill Group, has expanded its international footprint by launching operations in New Zealand.

The expansion follows increasing internet and smartphone usage as well as growing demand for prepaid solutions in New Zealand. The company said that over 87% of New Zealand’s population (4.4 million) use the Internet, while the penetration of mobile devices in the country is 100%.

paysafecard has been already launched in Australia in 2013.

paysafecard CEO Udo Müller said: "New Zealand is a digital information society. Based on experience, it is, therefore, particularly receptive to a fast and safe online payment method. For this reason, we view paysafecard as an attractive and long-awaited prepaid solution for customers.

"At the same time, we are delighted to be able to add New Zealand as the fortieth country to the paysafecard world map. As an essential part of the digital world, paysafecard is ideally suited to such an environment and is, therefore, well placed to rapidly develop a strong position in the local market."
