Yapital, the first European cross-channel payment solution, has partnered with VeriFone Systems, a provider of electronic POS solutions, to easily enable payment via smartphone.

With the integration of Yapital in the VeriFone H5000 terminal software (other terminals will follow later this year), retailers and merchants can offer their customers the ability to pay with their smartphones by scanning a QR code displayed at the terminal.

As the software supports terminals connected to cash registers as well as stand-alone terminals, this integration opens up the Yapital way of payment to retailers of any size.

Nils Winkler, CEO of Yapital, said: "Yapital continues to position itself as the cross-channel payment solution, allowing consumers to pay in-store, online, by invoice or mobile. Teaming up with VeriFone brings us a huge step closer to our goal of becoming a technical standard in-store – at virtually every POS terminal in Germany."

Markus Hövekamp, general manager of Germany for VeriFone, said: "At VeriFone, we aim to offer our clients every possibility to be competitive and to meet consumer demand for flexible payment options and fast processing. Integrating the H5000 with Yapital is not just a logical step, but one that makes sense strategically, as it provides a way for merchants and retailers to leverage new payment methods."
