Payments company WorldRemit has selected Onfido to deliver faster identity verification process for customers.

Under the agreement, Onfido will enable the payments firm to further automate the Know Your Customer (KYC) decision-making process to authenticate the identification of clients.

Quicker identity verification will accelerate customer onboarding process and enable them to quickly transfer funds overseas.

Onfido claims that it verification technology will ensure a better user experience even for customers with lower spec smartphones and cameras.

The optimised platform offers users with granular feedback beyond a simple pass or fail.

It will allow users to offer facial orientation or poor lighting conditions as causes for failure in verification, thereby allowing them to re-attempt the verification process.

WorldRemit director of payments Stephen Moffatt said: “As part of our constant efforts to improve and refine our customer experience, adding Onfido’s functionality to our registration process will ensure that we can put our customers on the happy path of sending money home, while protecting them from fraudsters.”

Onfido added that its platform will add functions for higher systemic levels of security.

The technology vendor will also allow the payment firm to ‘quickly alert’ the relevant bodies to protect even those who aren’t customers.
