Money transfer firm WorldRemit has collaborated with Paykii to enable cross-border bill payments.
Under the agreement, the bill payments can be made using the app or website of WorldRemit.

Paykii co-founder and CEO Fabian Saide said: “A significant portion of the money sent as remittances ultimately goes to paying basic monthly household expenses.
“Now WorldRemit customers have another great service to better manage their global financial health by directly paying bills for their loved ones or themselves back home.”
Customers of WorldRemit can now make bill payments in their home country on behalf of their families.
The service will enable electricity, telephone, mobile, internet, water and gas bill payments.

By GlobalDataWorldRemit head of product Cath Rooney said: “Our research shows that WorldRemit customers are regularly sending money for specific purposes, including bill payments which recipients pay in cash.
“This new service allowing our users to pay bills directly from abroad will make life easier for our customers, particularly in the current climate, by providing a convenient, end-to-end digital service.”
The service can be accessed from 40 send countries including the UK, US, Canada, Australia as well as New Zealand.
Last month, US-based mobile banking company Varo Money struck a remittance partnership with WorldRemit.
The alliance enables Varo customers to send cross-border fund transfers directly from their mobile phone.
