Based on the card issuer’s requirements, EMV cards are intended to enable secure payment transactions and may require the entry of the cardholder’s unique Personal Identification Number (PIN).
WorldPay US president and CEO, Tony Catalfano, said: "To obtain each certification, our IT teams have worked closely with the card payment networks and leveraged our security infrastructure to prepare our system for EMV.
"By taking this necessary step towards EMV chip card acceptance we are strengthening our ability to help customers protect their business – and their customers -from the potentially devastating effects of card fraud."
Currently, WorldPay is working closely with Discover on certifying to their EMV requirements.
