German payments firm Wirecard has signed a strategic partnership with Sabre Corporation, a US-based technology provider to travel industry, to cooperate in the field of payment processing.
Sabre will integrate Wirecard's payment services in its own payment platform under the terms of the partnership.
The integrated platform will enable Sabre to process all kinds of payment transactions from all sectors within the travel industry, including airlines, hotels and rental cars, etc.
Additionally, the companies are trailing a scheme, dubbed Sabre Mobile Concierge, which will enable Sabre to offer airlines a whole host of services such as check-in, excess baggage, on-board sales, upgrades and much more via a mobile device.
Wirecard will manage the mobile payment with an advanced mPOS solution, in order to directly settle the cost of any services provided.
Wirecard vice president of partner management Michael Santner said: "As a global market leader, Sabre is an important player within the travel industry and is redefining standards. Through this partnership, we can set payment trends within the industry and in future offer customers solutions from a single source."
