“We are happy to partner with Wirecard for digital financial commerce services. We look forward to advancing our cooperation as our business continues to expand.”

The partnership is said to be in response to increasing preference for digital payments by consumers in Singapore.

In this context, Wirecard cited data from the Monetary Authority of Singapore.

The data revealed that over 8 in 10 Singaporean consumers utilise digital payments. In addition around three in five merchants in the city accept such payments.

Wirecard head of relationship management for APAC sales Judith Loh said: “The growth of digital payments in Singapore has brought significant advantages for consumers, who enjoy a seamless shopping experience, but also for retailers who see higher productivity.”
