Wirecard, a German provider of electronic payment and risk management services, has been supporting the mobile phone brand BASE as it launches the mobile BASE Wallet with prepaid payment card.
Walletcard is a digital Maestro card that enables contactless payment, when used along with a mobile phone, through near field communication (NFC) at all MasterCard PayPass acceptance points worldwide.

Wirecard also offers another MasterCard digital credit card for payment in online shops. This enables the use of POS terminals which are not yet equipped with NFC technology.
Wirecard Telecommunications executive vice president Hammel-Bonten said: "We are very excited about the launch of the BASE Wallet. The brand has a broad customer base who use their smartphone at every opportunity in their day-to-day life and are receptive to new developments."
