ATM provider Wincor Nixdorf is to acquire Datec Retail Systems, a Czech firm specialising in POS and payment and retail software.

According to Wincor Nixdorf, the deal will speed along its plans to expand its software portfolio.

Wincor CEO Eckward Heidloff said: "Our mission in business with retail companies is to deliver software applications demanded by the market for all sizes of store and sales channels."

The German hardware provider will take on the business and will also be taking over Datec’s employees from January.

Jindrich Hegmon, MD and majority shareholder of DATEC, said: "Integration in the Wincor Nixdorf Group offers DATEC a huge opportunity to do business with large retailers and internationalize its activities.

"Thanks to our e-commerce offerings and apps, we also cater for an importance segment in Wincor Nixdorf’s software portfolios for retailing."
