Westpac has unveiled the first Airpoints earning debit card in New Zealand, dubbed Westpac Airpoints Debit MasterCard.

The new card functions like an EFTPOS card, to draw funds directly from a customer’s transaction account.
The Westpac Airpoints Debit MasterCard enables cardholders to earn one Airpoints Dollar for every NZD250 spent on the card.
It also offers cardholders a free Westpac PayTag, a contactless payment sticker that enables customers to pay for items under NZD80.
Customers will require an eligible personal transaction account with a minimum of NZD500 in total deposited per month in order to receive Airpoints Dollars with the new card.

By GlobalDataThe card can be used online, over the phone as well as overseas, with existing Westpac customers being the first to be provided an Airpoints debit card within Westpac One online banking. New customers will have to apply for the card through their nearest branch.
