Global payments firm Western Union has expanded its money transfer services to Mexico, enabling users to transfer funds from the US directly to almost all bank accounts in the country.
Following the expansion, Western Union users in the US will be able to send money through the Western Union mobile app, westernunion.com or retail agent location channels directly to the bank accounts in Mexico.
The company has also increased the number of agent locations in Mexico to nearly 13,600. About 3,200 locations have been added in 2015, across the Western Union, Vigo and Orlandi ValutaSM brands.
Western Union president of the Americas and European Union Odilon Almeida said: "Our market familiarity, multi-channel and multi-brand advantages centered on meeting customer needs are driving the company’s performance in Western Union’s largest international corridor and one of the oldest remittance markets in the world.
"With activation of account payouts in the U.S.-to-Mexico corridor, our customers have the choice of using retail Agent locations in the first or last mile, or using digital channels, wherever they are, 24/7."
