Vodafone has teamed up with payments giant PayPal to allow customers in the UK to make contactless payments through their PayPal accounts using Android smartphones.
The partnership will enable Paypal users to link their accounts to Vodafone Pay to purchase goods and services in over 400,000 restaurants and shops that accept contactless payments.

Customers can also make payment on public transport in and around London that accept Contactless and Oyster.
Customers can also make purchases of up to £30 at any contactless terminal using their phones integrated with Vodafone NFC SIM. In addition, they can use Vodafone Pay, a subsidiary of the Vodafone Wallet app, at retailers along with a PIN.
In addition to using PayPal account, customers can also add MasterCard bank credit and debit cards to Vodafone Pay.
Vodafone Pay can be used to make a payment even when the phone is switched off or out of battery life because the terminal uses NFC technology that is embedded in the Vodafone SIM card.

The service also works with any Visa and MasterCard credit or debit card offering customers greater choice than any other mobile payment service.”
PayPal UK director of mobile commerce Rob Harper said: “Mobile payments have long been at the heart of what we do. In fact, this year marks 10 years since we first launched a mobile payment service in the UK. As mobile technology continues to evolve, we will continue to look at new ways to make it easier and faster for our customers to pay.”
Earlier, in February 2016, Vodafone and PayPal joined forces to enable contactless payments in Europe.
