Visa has launched its online payment service Visa Checkout in Hong Kong following its launch in the US, Canada and Australia in July 2014.

The service allows users to pay for online purchases via their mobile devices in just a few clicks by storing billing and shipping data.

Visa Checkout stores a customer’s billing and shipping data, and also uses a username and password rather than a credit card number as authentication, streamlining the ordering process significantly.

The service enables shoppers to make purchases by using a smartphone, tablet, laptop or PC, without ever having to leave the merchant’s website to complete a purchase.

User can avail the service by simply entering a username and password to pay, rather than a 16-digit credit card number and expiry date at every transaction. The service aims to be intuitive to use and save shoppers time.

A number of online retailers who have signed up to work with Visa Checkout include Broadway Circuit, DimBuy, Hong Kong Airlines, PARKnSHOP and Zuji.
