Visa has joined forced with Arizona-based ATM
technology provider Better ATM Services to issue gift and other
prepaid cards via the machines.

The ATM screens of three participating credit
unions in Arizona now feature the Purchase Visa Gift Card
option. There is no activation fee, but cards are reloaded for $25
or $25 denominations.

The two companies have commenced a pilot phase
in Arizona, US, and have signed up Credit Union West, MariSol
Federal Credit Union, and Pinal County Federal Credit Union to take
part in the programme.

Vis says that 85% of US consumers would
appreciate a branded gift card. Visa’s study confirms the findings
by BIGresearch and the National Retail Federation (NRF), which
found that more than 80% of consumers planned to give gift cards as
presents during holiday seasons.

Better ATM Services CEO Todd L. Nuttall
said:

“We are working with ATM manufacturers,
independent sales organizations, and financial institutions to make
ATM-dispensed gift cards a common offering at ATMs throughout the
country.”
