Visa has rolled out its online payment service Visa Checkout in Singapore, following its launch in the US, Canada and Australia in July 2014.
The service enables shoppers to use any Visa debit or credit card or other branded cards to make purchases from a PC, mobile device or within a mobile app.
Visa Checkout stores a customer’s billing and shipping data, and uses a username and password rather than a credit card number as authentication.
Currently, Visa Checkout is accepted at a wide variety of online retailers in Singapore including Golden Village, Spizza, Cold Storage, Guardian, Giant, Aviva and ComGateway.
Online travel agency Zuji and supermarket chain NTUC FairPrice will join the payment services in the next few months, Visa revealed.
Visa country manager for Singapore and Brunei Ooi Huey Tyng said: "Visa Checkout addresses some of the problems faced by online shoppers by reducing the number of steps required for them to complete their online purchases, thus enhancing the entire shopping experience.
