Visa Canada is facilitating a new mobile
payment parking system in Canada.
As part of the service which is in partnership
with Imperial Parking Canada, drivers at payWave enabled Impark
parking lots will be able to pay by waving their cards at
terminals.
It follows a similar deal struck in the
US between PayByPhone and the San Francisco Municipal
Transportation Agency to provide mobile payment parking for the
West Coast city in December 2011.
An added feature for the Canadian deal
includes the ability for Canadian Impark customers to manage their
accounts online, and to pay for fees and balances using their Visa
debit card.
In addition customers using Impark’s Pay by
Phone functionality will be able to use their mobile phone or go
online for parking, and the company said billing was automatic.
Gordon Craig, senior vice president, Impark
said: “Visa payWave helps us meet customer expectations for speed
and ease-of-use when parking in an Impark lot, while Visa Debit
offers them a convenient online and phone order payment
solution.”
