Messaging app Viber has joined B2B mobile payment network TransferTo to expand its global reach and increase revenue streams.

The move will enable Viber to introduce new avenues for Viber Out credit to be purchased globally from retail outlets, through mobile operators and payment services.

Viber Out is a service that allows users to call any phone number at low rates, even if the destination number does not have the Viber app. To use Viber Out, users typically purchase credit via the Viber app or website.

TransferTo founder & CEO Eric Barbier said: “We welcome Viber to our network, and are thrilled to be in a unique position to provide dual benefits: more service options for Viber users and new avenues of business to partners in our network. Providing multiple purchase options is especially important for migrant workers who want to send Viber credits to friends and family back home.”

Viber fintech lead Robi Kopel said: “Joining the TransferTo network is a natural next step to interconnect our users and the global mobile community together. With Viber Out credit top-ups, friends or family can send or receive Viber Out Credit as gifts and most importantly, connect with the people who matter the most.”
