Singapore-based United Overseas Bank (UOB) has rolled out instant digital card issuance facility, which enables its existing credit cardholders to apply for, receive, and use digital credit card through their smartphones.

By the end of October 2016, the cardholders will be able to use their digital credit card through UOB Mighty app.

The new service will allow card members to take advantage of promotions specific to the credit card on the spot, or obtain a new card if they have misplaced it.

United Overseas Bank Singapore head of personal financial services Dennis Khoo said: “Consumers today want hassle-free modes of payment anywhere, anytime.

“We've all been in a situation where we are at a supermarket or restaurant offering promotions for a credit card we don't hold and wish we had that card right then.

“With instant digital card issuance, UOB card members can apply for and receive a digital credit card in minutes and use it immediately to enjoy its benefits.”

The new ATM will enable the bank's customers to withdraw cash just tapping their smartphones. At the outset, customers with MasterCard credit and debit cards on Apple Pay will get the access of the contactless ATM.

Later, the services will be extended to Android phone users through the UOB Mighty Pay app by January 2017.
