UnionPay International has reached an agreement with French Polynesia-based Socredo Bank for issuing the first local UnionPay card, starting in 2017.
Furthermore, UnionPay will assist the bank in upgrading the cross-border use and online payment of Socredo-issued bankcards.
In collaboration with UnionPay International, Socredo Bank will replace the existing Socredo bankcards into UnionPay cards. It will also issue new UnionPay cards. The bank has enabled all its ATMs and merchants to accept UnionPay cards.
Under the terms of the agreement, the bank’s cards will become international payment cards which can be used in the UnionPay network across 160 countries and regions.
Additionally, the cards will be available for online payment, which satisfies the local residents’ diverse payment requirements.
