UnionPay International has launched its QuickPass service in South Korea in association with BC Card.

Using the service, consumers can make quick payments by waving their UnionPay IC cards in front of contactless payment terminals in all merchants within Doota for convenient and secure cross-border payment experience.

Previously, QuickPass was available in over 8,000 GS25 convenience stores in South Korea.

In China, UnionPay QuickPass service was given an upper limit of load amount and purchase amount for each transaction.

However, UnionPay QuickPass service in South Korea will not be given upper limits for consumption due to the load inconvenience for cross-border travelling.

Cardholders will also be able to verify their transactions through signature or PIN after waving the card to ensure security.

As an introductory offer, cardholders will receive an exclusive discount of 30% (capped at KRW20,000) upon paying with UnionPay QuickPass service in Doota until 31 July 2015.

Also, the company is planning to work with South Korean institutions to promote the acceptance of QuickPass by more local merchants.
