China’s UnionPay has signed an agreement with locally-based e-commerce firm DHgate on cooperation in cross-border online business.
Under the agreement, DHgate will enable its B2B platform, known as DHgate.com, to accept UnionPay cards.
The agreement covers various matters including DHgate.com will accept UnionPay cards issued both at home and abroad; overseas merchants and individuals can make transaction through UnionPay Online Payment; the point-of-sale terminals of DHgate’s overseas locations will accept UnionPay cards; and the two firms will discuss issuing co-branded UnionPay cards in overseas markets.
UnionPay said in a statement that DHgate deploys over 1.2 million domestic suppliers, 40 million kinds of commodities and approximately 10 million clients, with business covering 224 countries and regions globally.
