UL, a US-based worldwide safety consulting and certification company, has acquired Acquirer Systems, an Ireland-based provider of testing software and tools for validation of complex payment environments for an undisclosed sum.

Acquirer Systems provides solutions to help customers improve testing performance and take on complex payment technology changes, including payment system replacement, new payment card and terminal product development, and compliance with payment standards.

Following the acquisition, Acquirer’s payment host test & simulation capabilities will be combined with UL’s card and payment terminal offering.

Acquirer Systems will use UL’s global scale and resources to foray into new markets.

As part of the deal, 23 staff from Acquirer Systems including CEO Fergal Molloy, and co-founders Aidan Corcoran and Robin Hilliard will join UL and remain with the company.

The purchase is expected to bolster UL position in EMV migration services in the North American market in addition to gaining cloud-based testing product capabilities.
