UK based card provider MBNA has become the latest in a series of financial services companies to launch device responsive websites.

MBNA’s revamped site will be able to detect what kind of device a customer is using, whether mobile, desktop computer, laptop or tablet and respond accordingly to improve the user experience.

Michael Donald, marketing and commercial executive for MBNA, said: "Our customers are showing us that they want and they expect us to continue to innovate to make their life easier.

"The new responsive design of our website puts our online provision up with the very best in financial services in the UK."

MBNA follows in the footsteps of financial services companies including Lincoln Savings Bank, Yorkshire Building Society and Standard Chartered, who all launched device responsive web platforms last year.

The card company’s strategic step follows its recognition that around 35% of new traffic to the mbna.co.uk website now comes through mobile and tablet devices.

It also follows a rise in customer satisfaction after responsive online credit card application forms were launched in 2013.

Donald said: "The optimisation of the full website was the next logical step.

"We can now boast leading edge website functionality, and our existing customers – and those who want to use our services – can be confident that we continue to remain committed to responding to their needs."
