Ukash, a UK-based online cash payments provider, has launched a new general purpose reloadable (GPR) prepaid card supporting a mobile app that promotes quick and easy uploading of funds.
The iPhone and android compatible app allows customers to easily check their transactions and balances and top up their card after exchanging cash for an Ukash code. Cash can also be deposited directly onto the Ukash Prepaid MasterCard at UK Post Offices.
As part of the launch, Ukash is waiving the card issuance fee of £5 and £9 for its virtual and physical card, respectively, for anyone who applies for the card before 30 April 2014 and loads it with a minimum amount of £20.
Ukash CEO, David Hunter, said the Ukash Prepaid MasterCard card is designed to break down barriers for a whole swathe of society.
"From immigrant workers to under 18’s and consumers with poor credit records, there are a huge number of people who have to rely on cash as their main form of currency for day to day living.
"For these cash consumers, there are many aspects of society that are out of reach – simply because they don’t have a bank account or credit card. We aim to change that social exclusion with our innovative prepaid card," Hunter added.
