Universal Air Travel Plan (UATP), a global payment solution for the airline industry, has joined forces with Bitnet as a payments processor to enable bitcoin payments for air travels.

The partnership will allow UATP to offer its network of over 260 airlines the ability to accept bitcoin payments through Bitnet.
The acceptance of bicoin will take place via a lightweight integration that will avoid impact to downstream systems and will utilize existing UATP reporting and refund interfaces.
UATP CEO Ralph Kaiser said: "We are always looking for skilled partners to bring additional forms of payment to the UATP processing platform and Bitnet fits the bill well."
Bitnet vice president of Solutions Strategy Akif Khan said: "Bitnet and UATP share the same mission of lowering transaction costs and fraud risk for their clients."
