TSYS’ Output Services unit has received a two-year certification from MasterCard’s Card Quality Management program.

MasterCard has introduced a proprietary Card Quality Management (CQM) program that is in keeping with International Organization for Standardization (ISO) methodologies.

CQM has been designed to ensure that people, processes and technologies involved in the card supply chain deliver consistent, sustainable and reliable manufacturing and quality processes.

Under the MasterCard mandate, card manufacturers of MasterCard-branded chip cards need to secure independent validation of their compliance with CQM.

In July, TSYS completed this process as part of an audit, where it was audited in the areas of Quality Management System, Card Body, and Integrated Circuit Card.

In addition, TSYS opted to deploy the requirements for its entire chip card manufacturing process even though CQM is specific to MasterCard.

TSYS Output Services group executive Blake Barker said: "This was a monumental task. We received official notification of the CQM mandated requirement in February, and we worked relentlessly since late February to prepare for the audit/certification.

"This required great teamwork and long hours, and it is an excellent example of a group pulling together to excel."

The TSYS Card Shop started manufacturing chip cards in April 2015.
