Foreign exchange provider Travelex in collaboration with Wirecard has introduced Supercard, a new card and app combination for UK travellers to avoid overseas debit and credit card roaming fees and charges when spending abroad.
In 2015, Travelex unveiled Supercard on a pilot basis to enable solve travellers’ spending problems. Following a successful pilot, Supercard is now offered to the UK citizens.
For this program, Wirecard is working as the technical service provider and takes over the whole acquiring processes and the risk management. In addition, Wirecard Card Solutions, a Wirecard Group company, is acting as the issuer of the Supercard.
Supercard combines all existing credit and debit cards into one card, which will be chip and PIN protected. The card is accepted wherever MasterCard cards are accepted.
Customers will have to connect their credit or debit card though an app to their Supercard – and receive instant updates via the app on how much they spend and savings incurred.
